THE WIRELESS COMMUNICATION IN THE NEW HD 30 TRUCK

HD30.com is a state of art High Definition OB truck - 64 square meters equipped with a total of 30 SONY HD cameras, 154 HD monitors, a brand new Eclipse Matrix and Cell-Com wireless intercom from Clear-Com Communications

PrimeVision is the largest provider of outside broadcasting production facilities in Denmark. Each year, the company takes charge of around 1000 OBs, including nearly 300 soccermatches in Denmark and Sweden, concerts and different entertainment occasions.

This June they increased the number of OB units to 8 - including a vehicle equipped for high definition - the standard for the future, as Commercial Director Flemming Rosenkrantz, PrimeVision says.

This first HD truck is the flagship of the company with its own brand name "HD30.com" and even its own website. It measures 13,5 m long, 4 m high and 4,8 m wide when expanded. Because of a partnership with Sony, the HD30 truck includes Sony cameras, vision mixer, routers and other Sony equipment.

Another innovation in HD30.com is the use of the new Eclipse Matrix and wireless communication. Wireless communication is very helpful on big productions when not everyone needs to talk to everybody else - here you can simply select your own calling group.
The CellCom system from Clearcom Communications was selected for the task. At the heart of the system - and where all communication and data flow through - is a base-station known as Cel-Base. This station supports up to 10 wireless beltpacks and because each beltpack has its own time slot, it can be individually adressed by the base. This allows multiple combinations of beltpack-to-beltpack and small group conversations to happen simultaneously.
The wireless technology does not interfere with other lines. Even in the most crowded RF environment, CellCom remains a closed system to interference and eavesdropping, as each beltpack has a unique ID registered with the base station.

The HD30.com has already been around Europe. In July it has been to Wecher Rock festival in Belgium, in London (preparing for a production - the  "Stray Cats" at the Brixton Academy Theatre), in Paris for ballet, and to a speedway match in Copenhagen - and is at this moment on a little island called Langeland to be set up at the Langeland Festival.
In August it will be at the Olympic Games in Athen.
